Okay, so at this point most of Ylisande's small parts are ready to go, and probably some big ones too.
There are some small issues with the upper and lower arms and legs, and long-story-short, it is because when I cut up, shortened and adjusted those parts I re-attached them with cyanoacrylate, aka. super glue. And every time we would spray, the paint reacted with the super glue and created a different texture. Then we'd sand it off and spray again and the same thing would happen. And we couldn't figure out why. I thought perhaps I hadn't sanded properly before priming at all and that there was actually a different level between the stripes that would come up and the surface of the parts. To me super glue is the obvious thing to rejoin stuff with, but apparently anything that isn't two-part will react with the acrylic thinners in the primer when we spray it.
We will keep spraying and sanding and hopefully will eventually get to the bottom of it.. or rather, top it off so the surface paint and super glue will be far enough apart not to react with each other. Luckily I have plenty of parts to mold so the last stragglers should be ready by the time I have molded what is ready now.
So now you know ~ don't make this mistake and cause yourself loads of extra work!!

Aaaargh.. That is soo frustrating.. Nothing like wasted time and effort having to 'fix' a chemical incompatibility issue.. Thanks for warning the rest of us, I never would have even considered that paint would react to super glue like that.
Good luck!! |

Thanks, guys!! Ron says he has this additive that he can put in with the paint which should stop it from reacting with anything underneath it, so we will try that, otherwise we could paint with a coat of 2pac paint, which is apparently expensive.. but one of those should do the trick.
In the meantime I have the face, headcap, torso, hips, knees, elbows, hands and feet that I can do to keep me busy ![]() |

![]() Awesome that you've got a cheaper solution to the problem! Keep us posted on how it works! |

I'm doing a test right now, won't know till tonight or the next morning if it works, but spraying the test-part with MSC rendered the banding invisible.. Just need to check and see if the silicone has picked up the banding or not. Fingers crossed.
